BAR MANAGER

Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week
Schedule: Fridays 12–5 PM, Saturdays 2–10 PM, plus limited flexible hours for planning and coordination
Compensation: Hourly + tips

Position Overview
Sledge Distillery is seeking a congenial, creative, and ethical Bar Manager to lead our bar operations and deliver the superior customer experience that defines our brand. This hands-on leadership role oversees bar staff, ensures compliance with all regulations, manages inventory, and collaborates with our team to create memorable cocktails, engaging promotions, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Management
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders and bar support staff.
  • Model professionalism, patience, and positivity in every interaction.
  • Foster a respectful, upbeat, and collaborative work environment that inspires staff to deliver outstanding service.
  • Support and coach staff to continually grow in skill and confidence.
• Compliance & Administration
  • Maintain up-to-date TABC certifications for all bar staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal alcohol service laws and Sledge Distillery policies.
  • Track inventory, prepare regular bar reports, and manage ordering of supplies from vendors and grocery sources.
• Operations & Creativity
  • Work behind the bar during open hours to lead by example and engage with guests.
  • Develop and update cocktail menus that highlight Sledge spirits and seasonal flavors.
  • Coordinate with the Social Media Manager, Retail & Events Manager, Food Manager, and owners on promotions, tastings, and events that enhance the guest experience.
  • Visit retail clients to help them develop cocktails featuring Sledge spirits and provide bartender training on how to use and promote those products effectively.
  • Handle challenging guest situations—such as overconsumption or disruptive behavior—with calm professionalism and a focus on maintaining a safe, enjoyable environment for all guests.
• Team Collaboration
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with management and all departments.
  • Foster collaboration to align the bar experience with Sledge Distillery’s brand and long-term vision.
  • Maintain a consistently positive attitude, even in high-pressure moments, setting the tone for the entire team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of bar or hospitality management experience preferred.
• TABC certification (or ability to obtain before start date).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
• Creativity in cocktail design, promotions, and customer engagement.
• Commitment to professionalism, positivity, and teamwork.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and innovate as the distillery grows.
