What to do in Tolar, Texas

     So, you're planning a trip and Tolar, Texas is on the route?  It's a small town gem, especially because of its location.  Tolar is located just 13 miles southwest of Granbury, Texas better known as a tourist attraction.  If it is the classic, country experience you are looking for, then Tolar may be your hub.   From Tolar, you can get to Granbury, Glen Rose, Bluff Dale, and Stephenville with only a short drive, each offering their own spectacles.  
      Sledge Distillery is a working cattle ranch that happens to make homemade moonshine and aged products such as bourbon, whiskey, and a repasado tequila.  They are only open Fridays from noon-5pm and Saturdays 2-10pm.  On Saturdays, they have live music and a pizza kitchen.  To find out more, go to sledgedistillery.com/events.  
        While you are at Sledge Distillery, drive down to the Paluxy River crossing just down the road on Highway 51/Paluxy Hwy.  The water is clear and you can take a swim or do a little fishing.  
        The drive back to Tolar is best using Rock Creek Cemetary Road.  You will pass the Rock Creek Cemetary which has some historic gravesites if that is your kind of thing.  It's a nice stop on a scenic drive back to the Tolor downtown area where you have a few shops and a couple of restaurants to investigate.
